GED CBT Test Information for Bangladeshi Students

1. What is the GED (General Education Development) ? The GED Testing Program offers individuals the opportunity to demonstrate that he/she has accumulated knowledge and skills comparable to people who graduated from high schools in the United States. Passing the GED Tests earns a U.S. high school equivalency diploma.
2. How to Register for GED?
A. Smart & Easier System 1. You have to go to the following address.

2. Pay the Service Charge: a. For Writing Skills & Interpreting Literature and the Arts (Part I) is: $US175; b. For Social Studies, Science & Mathematics (Part II) is $US225. More information about charge. 3. Finally, you will get your exam confirmation at your email address within three days.
B. If you have International Credit Card 1. Online Registration: You have to visit GED Online Registration page and follow the instruction.
2. By Phone: The Phone number is: 60-3-7628-3333.
3. By Fax: a. Download GED Test Scheduling Form from GED Bulletin. b. Print the form and fill up it. c. Fax the form to the appropriate RRC. The Fax number is: 60-3-7628-3366.
4. Conventional System: a. Download GED Test Scheduling Form from GED Bulletin. b. Print the form and fill up it. c. Send it to Regional Registration Center (RRC), at Malaysia to the following address.

Please be informed that there is a risk in this conventional method. If your bank draft is missing you will not be able to sit for the test. The Application form must reach the RRC at least three weeks before the earliest test date you asked for.
3. Request to Combine GED Test Score

4. Request for GED Transcript
Conventional System: 1. Download GED Transcript Form from GED Bulletin. 2. Print the form and fill up it. 3. Make a Bank Draft of $US13 for one transcript and drown on US Bank, payable to Thomson Prometric. 4. Send your request with supporting documents to the following address by postal mail.

7. How long is Score Valid? GED scores are valid for 1 year from the date of their first GED test.
8. What to Bring to the Test Center? 1. A valid original passport. 2. Your registration number. You will get this when you register. 3. Note: If you arrive at the test center without the required documents mentioned above, the test center administrator will not admit you to the test and your test fee will be forfeited. |
9. Syllabus/Test Content The GED CBT Tests are delivered in two parts. Part I consists of Writing Skills and Interpreting Literature & Arts. Part II consists of Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.
A. Writing Skills and Interpreting Literature & Arts (Part I)
1. Language Arts, Writing-Part A: 50 MCQ; 75 Min. a. Organization 15%: Restructure paragraphs or ideas within paragraphs, identify topic sentences, and create unity and coherence in the document. b. Sentence Structure Usage 30%: Correct sentence fragments, run-on sentences, comma splices, improper coordination and subordination, misplaced modifiers, and lack of parallel structure. c. Usage 30%: Correct errors in subject-verb agreement, verb tense, and pronoun reference. d. Mechanics 25%: Correct errors in capitalization, punctuation, spelling (restricted to errors related to possessives, contractions, and homonyms).
2. Language Arts, Writing-Part B: 1 Essay; 45 Min. The essay topic will require you to present your opinion or explain your views about the assigned topic.
3. Language Arts, Reading: 40 MCQ; 65 Min. a. Literary Texts 75%: Include at least one selection from each of the following areas -poetry drama prose fiction before 1920 prose fiction between 1920 and 1960 prose fiction after 1960. b. Nonfiction Texts 25%: Include two selections of non-fiction prose from any two of the following areas -nonfiction prose critical review of visual and performing arts workplace and community documents, such as mission and goal statements, rules for employee behavior, legal documents, and communications.
B. Social Studies, Science and Mathematics (Part II) 1. Social Studies: 50 MCQ; 70 Min. a. Most of the questions are based on written and visual texts drawn from a variety of sources. b. The information may be one or more paragraphs, a chart, table, graph, map, photograph, cartoon, or figure. History (United States) 20% World History 15% Geography 15% Civics and Government 25% Economics 20%.
2. Science: 50 MCQ; 80 Min. a. Test questions require you to understand, interpret, or apply information that is provided on the test or that is learned through life experience. b. The information may be a paragraph, chart, table, graph, map or figure. Physical Science (physics and chemistry) 35% Life Science 45% Earth and Space Science 20%.
3. Mathematics: 50 MCQ; 90 Min. 80% of the mathematics questions are multiple-choice, 20% of the questions require you to construct your own answer. Part A: 25 questions with optional calculator, 45 minutes. The following four major areas are tested on the test: Number operations and number sense 20% - 30%; Measurement and geometry 20% - 30%; Data analysis, statistics, and probability 20% - 30%; Algebra, functions, and patterns 20% - 30%. Part B: 25 questions without a calculator, 45 minutes.
Both Part A and Part B of the Mathematics Test have multiple-choice, standard grid, and coordinate grid questions.
10. Test Scoring 1. You can receive a maximum of 800 points on each of 5 subject tests. 2. There are 2 factors for GED Test scoring: a. Total Score; b. Score on each subject test. 3. Your total score must be 2250 or more on the 5 tests, with minimum score of 410 on each are required to pass the GED Test.
Note 1: If your total score is 2250 or greater, only those tests below 410 must be retaken. 2: If your total score is less than 2250, all tests below 450 must be retaken.
11. Rescheduling or Canceling Your Test Appointment 1. To reschedule or cancel your appointment, you may do so either by going online to Thomson Prometric's Web site. or by calling the RRC by noon, at least five days prior to your scheduled appointment or your test fee will be forfeited. If you miss this five-day period, you may make a new appointment, but must pay the full test fee again. Appointments cannot be rescheduled between sites served by different RRCs (e.g. Paris and Melbourne).
2. If you cancel your appointment prior to the five-day period, you will receive a refund of 50% of your test fees. Thomson Prometric will refund the credit card used to schedule with, within one month of the date the appointment was cancelled.
