GMAT Information for Bangladeshi Students

1. What is the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) ? The Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) is a standardized assessment—delivered in English—that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Schools use the test as one predictor of academic performance in an MBA program or in other graduate management programs.
2. Why GMAT is required? Prospective graduate applicants take the GMAT for admission purpose in different schools in the university. It is used as one of the measures to identify an applicant's potential performance in graduate management education.
3. How to Register for GMAT?
A. Smart & Easier System 1. At first you have to visit www.mba.com site and open an account with them. Then you have to go to the following address with your Email Address and Password information.

2. Pay the Service Charge along with test Fee of $US250. More information about charge
3. Finally, you will get your exam confirmation at your email address and/or at your account within three days.
B. Conventional System 1. Download GMAT Appointment Scheduling Form or Get it from American Center at Banani.

2. Print the form and fill up it. 3. Make a bank draft in favor of mba.com of $US250 from any bank of your choice. 4. Attach the bank draft with the GMAT Appointment Scheduling Form. 5. Send it by normal post, use the following address.

Make a Bank Draft in favor of mba.com of $US28 per university from any bank of your choice. 4. Attach the Bank Draft with GMAT ASR Request From. 5. Send it to the following address by post mail.
6. Finally the mba.com will post your requested ASR within twenty days

7. Test Fee The fee to take the GMAT is US$250 worldwide.
8. How long is Score Valid? GMAT score is valid for five years.
9. What to Bring to the Test Center? 1. A valid original passport. 2. Your registration number. You will get this when you register. 3. Note: If you arrive at the test center without the required documents mentioned above, the test center administrator will not admit you to the test and your test fee will be forfeited. |
10. Syllabus/Test Content The GMAT® exam measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills. The GMAT exam consists of three main parts.
1. Analytical Writing Assessment 2. Quantitative section. 3. Verbal section.
1. Analytical Writing Assessment The GMAT® exam begins with the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA).
Number of tasks: Two separate writing tasks.
a. Analysis of an Issue: i. In this section, you will need to analyze the issue presented and explain your point of view on the subject. ii. It measures your ability to explore the complexities of an issue or opinion and, if appropriate, to take a position that is informed by your understanding
b. Analysis of an Argument: i. In this section, you will need to analyze the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument. ii. You are not being asked to present your own views on the subject
Time: 30 minutes to complete each one.
2. Quantitative Section Following an optional ten-minute break, you begin the Quantitative Section of the GMAT® exam.
Number of Questions: 37 multiple-choice questions Time: 75 minutes to complete the entire section.
Question Types: Two types of question.
a. Data Sufficiency: Data-Sufficiency questions are designed to measure your ability to: a. Analyze a quantitative problem. b. Recognize which information is relevant. c. Determine at what point there is sufficient information to solve a problem.
b. Problem Solving: Problem-Solving questions are designed to test: a. Basic mathematical skills. b. Understanding of elementary mathematical concepts. c. The ability to reason quantitatively and solve quantitative problems.
3. Verbal Section After a second optional ten-minute break, you begin the Verbal Section of the GMAT® exam.
Number of Questions: 41 multiple choice questions Time: 75 minutes to complete the entire section. Question Types: Three types of question.
a. Reading Comprehension: i. This passages are up to 350 words long. ii. Topics contain material from the social sciences, physical or biological sciences, and business-related areas (marketing, economics, human resource management, etc.)
b. Critical Reasoning: i. Critical Reasoning questions are designed to test the reasoning skills involved in making arguments, evaluating arguments, and formulating or evaluating a plan of action. ii. Questions are based on materials from a variety of sources. iii. No familiarity with the specific subject matter is needed.
c. Sentence Correction. i. Sentence Correction questions ask you which of the five choices best expresses an idea or relationship. ii. The questions will require you to be familiar with the stylistic conventions and grammatical rules of standard written English. iii. You must also demonstrate your ability to improve incorrect or ineffective expressions.
Note: Quantitative and Verbal sections consist of multiple-choice questions delivered in a computer-adaptive format. Questions in these sections are dynamically selected as you take the test; the multiple-choice questions will adjust to your ability level, and your test will be unique.
11. Total Score Scale Total GMAT scores range from 200 to 800. The Verbal and Quantitative scores range from 0 to 60. Scores for the Analytical Writing Assessment range from 0 to 6 in half-point intervals.
12. What is the Standard Score for GMAT program? There is no standard score for GMAT program. But, the overall accepted score is 600.
13. Rescheduling or Canceling Your Test Appointment A. Rescheduling Policy 1. If you reschedule your appointment at least seven full calendar days between the date and time you reschedule and the date and time of your original appointment, then there is a $US50 fee to reschedule your appointment. 2. If you reschedule within seven full calendar days of your appointment date and time, you will be charged the full registration amount
B. Cancellation Policy 1. If you cancel your test appointment at least seven full calendar days in advance of the date and time your appointment, you will receive a partial refund of $US80. 2. If you cancel your appointment within seven full calendar days of your scheduled test date and time, you will forfeit your entire registration fee.
