SAT Subject Test Information for Bangladeshi Students

1. What is SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) Subject Test (SAT II)? SAT Subject Tests are designed to measure your knowledge and skills in particular subject areas, as well as your ability to apply that knowledge. Students take the Subject Tests to demonstrate to colleges their mastery of specific subjects like English, history, mathematics, science, and language. The tests are independent of any particular textbook or method of instruction.
2. When Should a Student Take Subject Test? Most students take Subject Tests toward the end of their junior year or at the beginning of their senior year.

7. How to Get your SAT Subject Test Score?

B. If You Have Online Credit Card A. Thorough Online: 1. Visit CollegeBoard.com site and follow the instruction. 2. Your scores will be mailed about three weeks after you submit your request.
B. Conventional System 1. Download the Form CollegeBoard.com or get it from American Center at Banani. 2. Print the form and fill up it. 3. Send the Form by postal mail to the following address:

9. SAT II Score Scale a. The SAT has three scores, each on the scale of 200 to 800.
10. Test, Test Date, or Test Center Changes (Rescheduling) 1. If a student is registered for a test and wants to change the test, test center, or test date, the student should call SAT customer service no later than the Wednesday that is two and a half weeks before the test date. 2. The Fee is $US21. 3. International Credit card required.
11. Refunds Policy 1. Test and registration fees (including late fees and telephone re-registration fees) cannot be refunded, even if you cancel your test scores or are absent on test day. 2. Most SAT-related fees are transferable but not refundable. The only refundable fees are for:

Subject Tests fall into five general subject areas:
A. English (Literature) Time: One hour Format: 1. About 60 multiple-choice questions 2. 6 to 8 reading selections followed by sets of 4 to 12 questions 3. Selections from works originally written in English from the Renaissance to the present Score: Total score: 200to800 scale

B. United States History Time: One hour Format: 1. 9095 multiple-choice questions 2. Questions cover political, economic, social, intellectual, and cultural history and foreign policy Score: Total score: 200to800 scale

C. World History Time: One hour Format: 1. 95 multiple-choice questions 2. Questions cover political and diplomatic, social and economic, and intellectual and cultural fields. Score: Total score: 200to800 scale
Content: 1. Material Covered: a. Global or comparative: 25% question of test b. Europe: 25% question of test c. Africa: 10% question of test d. Southwest Asia: 10% question of test e. South and Southeast Asia: 10% question of test e. East Asia: 10% question of test f. Americas: 10% question of test
2. Periods Covered: a. Prehistory and civilizations to 500 C.E.: 25% question of test b. 500 to 1500 C.E.: 20% question of test c. 1500 to 1900 C.E.: 25% question of test d. Post-1900 C.E.: 20% question of test e. Cross-chronological: 10% question of test
*The World History Subject Test uses the chronological designations B.C.E. (before common era) and C.E. (common era). These labels correspond to B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (anno Domini), which are used in some world history textbooks.
D. Mathematics Level 1 and Level 1. Mathematics Level 1 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken three years of college-preparatory mathematics, including two years of algebra and one year of geometry. 2. Mathematics Level 2 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken college-preparatory mathematics for more than three years, including two years of algebra, one year of geometry, and elementary functions (precalculus) and/or trigonometry.
Time: One hour Format: 1. 50 multiple-choice questions 2. The tests cover content typically taught in the first three years (for Level 1) or four years (for Level 2) of college-preparatory mathematics. Score: 1. Total score: 200to800 scale
Calculator: 1. For Level 1 & Level 2 both tests require scientific or graphing calculator. But it is not necessary for every question. Without calculator, will be a disadvantage.
Content: 1. Topics- Number and Operations: 1014% question of test (For Level 1) & for 10 14% question of test (For Level 2) 2. Topics- Algebra and Functions: 3842% question of test (For Level 1) & for 4850% question of test (For Level 2) 3. Topics- Geometry and Measurement: 3842% question of test (For Level 1) & for 2832% question of test (For Level 2) 4. Topics- Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability: 610% question of test (For Level 1) & for 610% question of test (For Level 2)
*Topics in italics are tested on the Level 2 Test only. The content of Level 1 overlaps somewhat with that on Level 2, but the emphasis on Level
E. Biology E/M 1. Take Biology E if you feel more comfortable answering questions pertaining to biological communities, populations, and energy flow. 2. Take Biology M if you feel more comfortable answering questions pertaining to biochemistry, cellular structure and processes, such as respiration and photosynthesis. 3. Indicate choice of Biology E or Biology M on your answer sheet on test day.
Time: One hour Format: Both Biology E and M have 1. 80 multiple-choice questions 2. 60 of the 80 questions are common to both Biology E and M, followed by 20 specialized questions for each section. Score: Total score: 200to800 scale
Content: 1. Cellular and Molecular Biology: 15% question of test (For E) & 27% question of test (For M) 2. Ecology: 23% question of test (For E) & 13% question of test (For M) 3. Genetics: 15% question of test (For E) & 20% question of test (For M) 4. Organismal Biology: 25% question of test (For E) & 25% question of test (For M) 5. Evolution and Diversity: 22% question of test (For E) & 15% question of test (For M)
F. Chemistry Time: One hour Format: 1. 85 multiple-choice questions 2. Approximately five questions on equation balancing and/or predicting products of chemical reactions. 3. Questions cover topics emphasized in most high school courses. Score: Total score: 200to800 scale
Content: 1. Structure of Matter: 25% question of test 2. States of Matter: 16% question of test 3. Reaction Types: 14% question of test 4. Stoichiometry: 14% question of test 5. Equilibrium and Reaction Rates: 5% question of test
G. Physics
Time: One hour Format: 1. 75 multiple-choice questions 2. Questions cover topics emphasized in most high school courses Score: Total score: 200to800 scale
