Visa Interview : Syeda Sultana writes from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hi
This is Sultana from Toronto, Canada- a Bangali
student at University of Toronto majoring at
Microbiology & Immunology. I got to see your well
informative website and I do thank you all for doing
such a nice job towards students. I was specifically
looking at the Visa Interview Tips section and thought
about a few more key points that I thought might help
students like- keeping a constant eye contact with the
consular. And speaking about that ever confusing
question- "I don't think you will come back" or "how
can I be sure that you'll come back after your
study"...there's even more stronger leverage for our
BD students. They can describe the situation like-
livinghood specially in North America is very very
expensive, normal life is tangled with bills, no job
security which will leave students moneyless. People
hardly can save money and not to mention there's
always a pressure to keep a person's 'credit history'
straight upright- all of which, if a student come back
to BD, will never have to worry. Moreover, a foreign
student (that is a BD student in abroad) graduating
from university will get far better, highly demanding
and well paid job in BD than in that country.

I agree with you and personally think students should
represent the term 'family' when it comes to money
matter. Its not enough for a father to support higher
education, nor a student should only say it even if
the consular asks like "what is your father's annual
income". He/she might try to devulge anything more out
of the student. So, I think its more wise for a
student to say like- "My complete financial support on
education comes from my father, mother and other
sources (if any) like renting, agriculture.

Finally I'd like to shed some light on "choosing a
particular university". Actually there's no 100%
satisfying answer to this general question. What kind
of output would a student come up with from his/her
research on this? Ranking changes every year. If I may
suggest something, I'd say- students have to do
research on that particular State (if in US) or
Province (if in Canada). In US, the tax rate is
different from one state to another which affects the
tution cost. Students might say from their research
that, "the State X has lower tax percentage, low crime
rate, moderately polulated- all perfect for a balanced
study environment. Apart from normal representation of
other relevant infomation, all these 'real life' data
might help students- might.

Thank you for your time and wishing you good luck.
